Ahrefs
Ahrefs is a widely used SEO tool, well known basically everywhere in SEO-land. Ahrefs provides insights into search terms, volumes, website positions and more. It is a useful tool to use to determine your content strategy or to obtain such a competitor analysis. In this blog, we explain what we ourselves use most of the tool for our own clients and exactly how we do it.
The cost of Ahrefs
Ahrefs is not a free SEO tool. For a subscription, you pay $180 a month.
However, cheaper subscriptions are available. For $99 a month or even completely free. Then keep in mind that you don’t have all the tools and data at your disposal.
The dashboard
The dashboard is the first thing you see when you open Ahrefs. You will see general details of all your projects here. For example, you can see the domain rating, the number of backlinks and the organic traffic achieved. You can see where there are areas for improvement and make adjustments right away.
The site explorer
At the top of the site, you’ll see several pages where you can go within Ahrefs. Next, after the dashboard, is the site explorer.
In the site explorer, enter a domain name, your own or (more importantly) your competitors’. You will then see important information from that site, such as the number of backlinks, the amount of organic traffic and more.
You can easily see here how your competitors are performing relative to your own site and base a sound strategy on this.
The keyword explorer
After the site explorer, you will find the keyword explorer. A frequently used page by ourselves. Namely, in the keyword explorer, you enter keywords or terms you want more information about. You can see here the volume of a search term (how much is it looked up by people) and also get suggestions of related search terms. So this is a good way to set up a content strategy.
Rank Tracker
With the Rank Tracker, you can see the development of your projects. You can see here what your position is in Google for certain keywords. Among other things, you will see information about your current positions, the expected traffic for a keyword and your average position.
You can also use the Rank Tracker to see right away which search terms you have dropped for and act accordingly.
