Paid search results

To boost your visibility and findability, it is possible to use paid search results. That is, you pay to have your site show up at the top of the results in searches. The consumer also sees that this result is an advertisement and therefore a paid search result.

What are paid search results?

You pay Google to get this position. Generally, you pay for a period of time. When you stop paying or the period has expired, your site no longer appears at the top of the search results. Paid search results are part of SEA. This stands for search engine advertising.(1)

Additional knowledge and payment

Making good use of paid search results requires some expertise. The key is to know how Google Ads and AdWorks work. After all, these tools are the ones you use for your paid search results. When you know how to work with this, you ensure better use of your paid search results.

Payment is per click. However, Google does show a maximum of four ads in a search. If the amount you want to pay per click is not among the top four, your ad will not show up in the searcher’s results.

Impact on SEO

SEO is anything you can do to increase your ranking on search results. Paid search results actually bypass this effort – but only as long as they are paid for. Paid search results are displayed above so-called organic search results. It also says here that these are ads. So you are at the top, but not because you are the first hit on the search query. (2)

My advice

Paid search results are interesting, but require some hand-holding. Determining your price per click, for example, already plays a role. Also, the search terms you want to be found on. There has to be a balance in these things that requires expertise. In addition, it is necessary to have some knowledge of Google Ads to properly deploy paid search results.
