Trust flow
Trust Flow is an analysis method that allows you to measure how trustworthy Web sites are. Trust Flow considers the quality of the site. This also affects the ranking a page receives in a search engine. This method was developed by the English company Majestic.
What is Trust Flow?
When ranking a site for a search engine, one looks at several aspects. First and foremost is Google’s PageRank algorithm, which uses the popularity and number of links from other sites to your website to rank. In doing so, Trust Flow also looks at the quality of the links and the source.
Trust Flow counts trusted links
With an account with Majestic, you can easily gain insight into your site’s Trust Flow. This allows you to assess the link profile of your pages and compare your own profile with partners or competitors.
So this also allows you to determine from which websites you would best like to be linked. While the Citation Flow indicates how many links there are to your site, the Trust Flow addresses the quality and reliability of the links. The more reliable links you collect, the higher you will rank.
There is also a correlation between the number of links (citation flow) and the number of trusted links (trust flow). If you have a large number of links but a low number of reliable ones, this ratio will be low. Ideally, this ratio is between 0.5 and 1.
Trust Flow and SEO
The number of reliable links pointing to your site is an important indicator for search engines to determine the quality of your site. If you have many high-quality sites linking to you, the expectation is that you have a high-quality site and a good backlink profile. The same works the other way around. If untrustworthy sites link to your page, the Trust Flow indication drops and search engines will rate you lower.
My advice
Don’t just provide lots of links to your site, but make sure they are qualitative. For example, you can link a good influencer within your industry to your site. You can also write your own guest blogs on authoritative websites within your industry. Websites with the extension .gov or .edu have also been shown to exude authority and create trust with visitors. When setting up a link structure, it is smart to focus on one specific niche, and the internal link structure can also help you improve your ranking.
