Comparison of three AI tools for SEO copywriters: Jasper, ChatGPT and Writesonic

The rise of AI tools is changing the way SEO texts are written. What once began as keyword-based text generation is now a process in which language models are driven with prompts, instructions and workflows.

For SEO writers, choosing the right tool determines speed, scalability and content control. In this article, I compare three commonly used AI tools for SEO purposes: Jasper, ChatGPT and Writesonic.

What do you look for when choosing AI tools for SEO?

AI tools differ not only in interface, but also in output quality, prompt sensitivity and optimization features. For SEO writers, the main issues are:

  • Content control: to what extent do you provide direction on structure, tone and relevance?
  • Workflow support: is the tool suitable for creating clusters, outlines or longform SEO content?
  • Language accuracy and reusability: how usable is the output without heavy editing?

The right tool depends on the type of content, your team structure and the level of automation you are looking for. (1)

Jasper

Jasper is designed for marketers and copywriters with a strong focus on ease of use. The platform offers templates for blog posts, product descriptions and SEO copy. Jasper works with preset workflows that speed up startup. Also, this system has built-in tools for tone-of-voice, target audience and conversion goal. Furthermore, Jasper offers integration with SurferSEO for on-page optimization.

Limitations lie in the depth of prompts: Jasper is less flexible for more complex instructions or iterative editing layers. It lends itself primarily to generating basic content that needs to be ready quickly.

ChatGPT (with GPT-4)

ChatGPT offers the most flexibility and control for experienced users. Especially when combined with custom prompts, content templates and instructional memory, ChatGPT offers control over content, structure and style.

These are ChatGPT’s strengths with GPT-4:

  • This tool has a high level of semantic understanding, even with more complex topics
  • ChatGPT is capable of creating content clusters, outlines, text variants and rewrites
  • It is suitable for hands-on writers who manage their own prompt structures

For ChatGPT, you need a higher level in terms of input. Without clear guidance, the output is quickly too generic. For those who know what they want, this is the most powerful option in terms of precision and consistency. (2)

    Writesonic

Writesonic is an accessible tool aimed at quickly generating short texts, among other things, with a specific focus on marketing, e-commerce and SEO. The platform offers an AI Article Writer, built-in keyword modules and templates by content type.

    Writesonic’s strengths are as follows:

    • Quickly usable output with minimal input
    • Optimized for SEO with keyword prompts and SERP structure
    • User-friendly for short texts, meta descriptions and product texts

The limitations lie in creativity and depth. For longer texts or depth of content, the control is limited. Content must be edited regularly to remain unique and relevant.

Which tool do you choose when?

The best choice between Jasper, ChatGPT and Writesonic depends on your content goals and workflow. If you mainly want to generate basic content quickly, then Writesonic is usually sufficient.

Looking for more control, scalability and quality? Then you quickly turn to ChatGPT. For those who want to produce marketing copy in fixed formats, Jasper offers a streamlined solution.

When deploying SEO content strategically, a prompt-based approach with ChatGPT is often the most appropriate. Optionally, supplement this with other tools for specific steps in the process.

    Publish faster while maintaining quality

At an e-commerce client in a competitive niche that I was coaching, the combination of ChatGPT and Jasper proved ideal. The client wanted to publish many SEO pages quickly, without the content becoming generic or superficial.

We built a prompt structure in ChatGPT to generate longform SEO content by product category, tailored to their brand voice and target audience. Jasper was then used to streamline introductions and CTAs, thanks to established templates.

With this approach, we delivered dozens of pages weekly, with a grip on content and without endless rounds of corrections. The mix of tools not only worked efficiently, but also ensured consistent quality at scale.

    Summary

AI tools for SEO writers differ in control, output and applicability. Whereas Jasper and Writesonic excel in ease of use and speed, ChatGPT offers the best output for those who have mastered the technology. It is important to balance automation and editing, though. AI sometimes speeds up processes, but content strategy remains human work. That’s where the right tool makes all the difference.
